To support the coordination of the Afterall office and its administration based at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and to support the development of the project in liaison with its Directors and institutional research and publishing partners. 

University of the Arts London has a world-class reputation and comprises six renowned Colleges, which offer an extensive range of courses in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts. 

Based at the Central Saint Martins College, Afterall focuses its research activities on the value of contemporary art and its relation to wider society. It specialises in three registers of art production and reception - 

  • the individual work;
  • its exhibition or public display;
  • and its dialogue with social, political and theoretical contexts.

The Afterall research centre works with partners across three continents to deepen this enquiry and make it available through publications, digital access, conferences, screenings and talks. Afterall is closely linked to the MRes Art: Exhibition Studies pathway.

Role requirements include -

Relevant Experience (Desirable)

Experience in project management, finance and funding administration in an art/art publishing environment, and excellent command of the English language, marketing and event organising

Communication Skills (Desirable)

Communicates effectively orally, in writing and/or using visual media. Knowledge of print and digital publishing

Planning and Managing Resources (Desirable)

Plans, prioritises and organises work to achieve  objectives on time

Leadership and Management (Desirable)

Experience of inducting and managing temporary staff, providing instruction in own area of responsibility, supports training and learning

Teamwork (Desirable)

Works collaboratively in a team or where appropriate across or with different professional groups

Specialist Knowledge/ Qualifications (Preferable)

Formal training or education to Masters level or equivalent, with specialist knowledge in a relevant subject (eg. contemporary art/arts administration) 

Professional Practice (Preferable)

Contributes to advancing professional practice and staff development

Student Experience or Customer Service (Preferable)

Provides a positive and responsive student or customer service
