The opportunity

You will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and customer-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University and its constituent Colleges. 

You will support specified courses/programmes of study across Camberwell and Chelsea (currently Fine Art), participating in course committees. You will establish constructive working relationships with course teams, and promote access to resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison and information dissemination. 

You will line manage a small team, and be responsible for providing professional leadership in your functional area.  

You will be responsible for providing professional leadership of the Chelsea and Camberwell collections teams. This includes co-ordinating acquisitions and collection development, including for Special Collections. You will also represent the libraries at departmental meetings. 

You will assist in the provision of enquiry services and develop learning materials which encourage the use of resources and services. 

Working pattern for this post is currently Monday - Friday, with some shifts that finish at 18.15pm. It is crucial to note that this position works equally and agilely across Camberwell College of Arts and Chelsea College of Arts with the potential to work at any other UAL site as required. 

About you

With either a degree in any subject plus a postgraduate qualification or a degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent and relevant experience in a library or customer service environment you will create realistic plans to achieve the agreed deadlines and objectives of the role. With experience of providing guidance to support the diverse needs of library users you will be able to communicate accurate and relevant information regarding services and systems in a manner that demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the academic context of the University.
