The opportunity

The role is based within the Library Services Resources & Systems team, supporting the management and delivery of electronic information and library systems for all our colleges.

You will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University and its constituent colleges.

You will monitor and respond to Library Systems; RFID (self-service); and e-resource queries, escalate problems to the appropriate person, as necessary. You will assist with the maintenance and development of enquiry, CMS and portal software to support and promote our resources; assist in the maintenance of statistics, and assist with SCONUL data collection, producing reports as required. You will also contribute to the use of the Library Services website; SharePoint; and social media as a communication channel.

You will support colleagues in R&S, contribute to and participate in project activities, including Task and Finish groups, and represent library services at internal and external meetings where required.

About you

We are looking for someone with a degree level qualification and relevant work experience. A recognised library qualification or relevant experience in other education or information roles and related disciplines is desirable (e.g. CILIP accreditation, non academic library or archives experience, NVQ’s or apprenticeship, library or teaching post graduate cert/dip/MA/MSC).

Some knowledge of working with library management and electronic information systems is desirable, as well as the application of content management and administrative enquiry software, in an academic environment.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be IT literate and ideally have an interest in the subject areas of UAL.

All our library service roles contribute to running our frontline service. This role does, however, offer some opportunities for working from home.
