The opportunity

The post holder will report directly to the Dean of Research and will be responsible for ensuring that an efficient and effective service is provided to both academic staff and research students.

This is a busy and varied role which requires the post holder, with the support of the Research Student and Communications team, to manage both internal and external audit requirements; monitoring of research centres and networks; the planning of research events and partnership activities. As part of the wider research management team at UAL this role will oversee the administration of university’s REF2021 submission development processes.

In addition to this responsibility, you will work closely with senior colleagues to identify and implement changes required to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the support offered, improving the information and training that is available on research administration and to find new ways of promoting good practice.

About you

The post holder is expected to build strong relationships with academic and administrative staff from other areas of the university. The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree and have a professional qualification in research management and/or equivalent experience. The post holder will ideally have detailed knowledge of the Research Excellence Framework, strong analytical skills and practical experience of systems and procedural change. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and can demonstrate judgement, initiative and creativity with the ability to disseminate complex information clearly and effectively.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
