The opportunity

This is a well-established and highly successful course and will provide the opportunity to work closely with the Course Leader in enhancing the student experience and contributing to the academic development of this course. 

This course resides within the Screen School alongside a range of courses which promote a rigorous and exciting environment of exchange and collaboration.  For details of the structure of the BA(Hons) Film & Television please refer to the details on the course web page. 

The successful candidates will manage and participate in the delivery of innovative teaching and assessment of a designated Year on the course, as well as making a significant contribution to pedagogic delivery, assessment, quality management and student recruitment across the course. 

The appointed candidates will work under the direction of the Course Leader and alongside other course tutors and lecturers, as well as contributing to University initiatives including research.

About you

With a proven industry track record in broadcast TV, film and online production, in addition to teaching experience in an HE environment, you will bring high level practical skills, knowledge and academic authority to the role. 

With experience in drama and/or factual programming, you provide innovative, compelling content across a range of genres, platforms and budgets. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas,: 

TV Directing (single camera and studio)

Cinematography

Sound

Editing 

The course has a strong and vibrant connection with the contemporary television industry but we are also increasing engagement with the production of long and short form content for multi-platform, mobile environments. We are particularly interested in candidates conversant with current trends and keen to develop innovative, future directions for film and television. Experience of teaching critical theory and reflective practice is desirable. 

You will have the expertise, enthusiasm and communication skills to inspire our diverse cohort of students together with a current and innovative professional practice and/or research profile. A postgraduate qualification is highly desirable as is a teaching qualification. 

Your talent for communicating practice-based skills and theory should be complemented by excellent administrative and organisational skills, you will be an excellent team player and come with a contact book of industry specialists. You will be able to take an active role in student recruitment.
