The Design School at London College of Communication is looking to recruit a 0.6 Course Leader for MA Data Visualisation. To lead the development of the subject across the programme and school at postgraduate level. To develop strategies for recruitment including developing relationships with feeder courses both internally and externally to UAL.

 This is a key role in the Design School. We expect you to motivate and excite our postgraduate students. Applying your research-led teaching to the MA Data Visualisation. This post is seen a key driver for the development of new specialist subject development in the Design School/College/UAL.

You will undertake the day to day management of the course, to develop and deliver studio practice units for students and specialist digital workshops. You will develop and deliver disciplined, innovative and engaging lectures and seminars, contributing significantly to course development and assessment. Responsible for the learning, teaching and assessment of students, providing academic and pastoral support as necessary, monitoring student progress and maintaining appropriate records. 

About you

We are looking for a candidate with relevant postgraduate and undergraduate teaching experience within the area of Data Visualisation. A relevant qualification at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Visualisation/Information/Communication design or a closely related discipline (i.e. Graphic Design, Information Design, Data Science, Communication Design) or equivalent experience

 You will have Knowledge of experimental data visualisation design practices/processes and familiarity with relevant data visualisation software e.g. NodeBox, Adobe XD, Adobe CC, Sketch, D3, Processing, PaperJs.

 The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team be a cross-disciplinary thinker as well as be an innovative teacher. Candidates should demonstrate subject knowledge as well as skills relevant to subject development within an academic, research and professional context.
