The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the leadership of the Library and Student Support Services Directorate and to contribute to the development and implementation of the Library and Student Support Strategy, 2018 - 2021.

You will lead the strategic development, management and delivery of library services and support programmes, ensuring they align with teaching, learning and research activities across the University and provide a high quality student experience. You will have specific responsibility for the University's six Libraries and three Learning Zones, and will line manage the Learning Resources Managers and Learning Zone Manager that run these services.

You will be a member of the Library and Student Support Leadership Team, and act as chair of the Services and Support Management Team for Library Services.

You will participate in relevant university committees and groups as well as being active in professional networks.

About you

With a degree or post-graduate qualification in Library and Information Studies (or equivalent), you will have proven expertise in leading and managing library services and developing information literacy programmes. You will have experience of working within higher education and be able to demonstrate knowledge of current educational developments as well as current developments within academic librarianship. You will be an effective team leader and a compelling communicator with an ability to inspire, advocate, influence and engage others. You will be able to effectively plan, prioritise and manage the delivery of complex projects or activities to achieve long term objectives, applying innovative approaches to your work where this is appropriate.
