The opportunity

We regularly recruit Library Assistants for our term-time only weekend teams based across our six colleges, with different hours of employment ranging between 4.5 hours and up to a TOTAL of 14.0 hours a week with some weekday contact hours required as part of the role.

Currently, we have 3 term-time only vacant posts working the following hours for up to 38 weeks a year. Any remaining hours are contact hours which are worked over the year by agreement, to accommodate weekday opening, plus staff training and development:

 

Chelsea College of Arts weekend Grade 2 (FTE 0.14)

CCA Saturday Library Assistant post is made up of 6.0 hours x 38 weeks

The post holder works 31 weeks on Saturdays, working 9.45am – 4.15 pm [leaving 42 contact hours to be worked by arrangement]  

 

Wimbledon College of Arts weekend Grade 2 (FTE 0.14)

WCA Saturday Library Assistant post is made up of 6.0 hours x 38 weeks

The post holder works 31 weeks on Saturdays, working 9.45am – 4.15 pm [leaving 42 contact hours to be worked by arrangement]  

 

London College of Fashion weekend Grade 2 (FTE 0.22)

LCF Saturday Library Assistant post is made up of 9.5 hours for 34 weeks [323 hours] and 5.75 hours for 4 weeks [23 hours] 346 hours per year

The post holder works 34 weeks on Saturdays, 9.5 hours x 31 weeks working 9.45am – 8.15 pm and 6 hours x 3 weeks 9.45am – 4.15pm [leaving 33.5 contact hours to be worked by arrangement.]

The two remaining shorter Saturdays this academic year are Saturday 29 June 2019 and Saturday 6 July 2019.

These dates alter every year.

As part of the requirement of the role you may occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL college libraries: Central St Martins, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon.

 

About you

You should have relevant library or customer service experience, and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate. Working in a small team, you will provide a positive and responsive customer service.
