BA (Hons.) Graphic Media Design is central to the undergraduate design offering at London College of Communication. With a legacy of innovative, experimental and globally renowned practice and research in graphic and media design we now seek to recruit a senior lecturer to guide the development of a pioneering new area of digital design.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing the development and delivery of the specialist area of Digital Experience and Motion Design within a newly expanded Graphic and Media Design curriculum with an increased emphasis on emerging technology. They will oversee the development and delivery of units, briefs and projects related to the subject area across all levels of the course and work closely with the course team in developing research and knowledge exchange initiatives related to the specialism.

They will support and teach students in new and emerging areas of graphic and media design such as user experience and user interface design, working with augmented or mixed reality, interactive digital experiences and screen-based graphic and media work. They will also engage in high-level practice or research, continuing to support and enhance the innovative and world-leading work of the GMD team.

About you

The successful candidate will have extensive industry and research experience in working with emerging technologies and platforms. They will represent the forefront of experimental digital practice in graphic and media design and have demonstrated strong contributions to the field.

As senior lecturer, the successful candidate will have established teaching experience in the subject area, able to evidence innovative and dynamic approaches to teaching evolving and future-facing conceptual and technical skills. They will also have experience of writing and delivering units and projects, assessment and feedback procedures and be able to work with different teams from across the institution to give the best possible student experience. This includes negotiating with technical and administrative teams to ensure that the digital offering of the course is properly resourced.

The successful candidate will be able to work across teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities to build a community of practice around motion design and digital experience across all levels of the course and school’s activity. They will draw on their own extensive professional network to inform the course activities and enhance the quality of the subject and student experience. They will be able to work with colleagues on collaborative research and teaching projects and feed their expertise into school development strategies and subject expertise.
