The opportunity

The BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion course seeks to develop and foster critical creative practice in the field of fashion communication, an ever-evolving discipline. It prepares students for a wide range of positions within fashion media and communication and related creative industries. The course a has multidisciplinary focus enabling students to develop and implement an appropriate, compelling and strategic creative vision using communication design practices.

The course focusses on concept generation and ideation, iterative design and proposing ideas that are globally informed and future focussed.

Using the skills of communication design, interface design, art direction and speculative design, students will be equipped to identify, anticipate and respond to communication opportunities as strategic thinkers and skilled communicators for our ever-changing communication landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the BA(Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion teaching team at London College of Fashion. We are looking for Associate Lecturers, passionate in nurturing the next generation of communication designers.

Your commitment to excellence in teaching, creativity, innovation and the student experience should equal your professional experience, awareness of the fashion landscape and design/technical understanding for the subject area.

Ready to undertake teaching, assessment, technical workshops, unit management and curriculum development, you will provide academic and pastoral support to our diverse range of students and work closely with other academic staff, including the Course Leader and Associate Lecturers.

You will also have significant industry experience and be willing to bring your varied experiences and network of industry connections to support the role. Ideal candidates will have worked or are currently working in one or more of the following areas:

Visual communication / creative direction

Experience design

Interaction design

UI/UX design

Design technology

User-centered design

Spatial design (3D environments, installations, live events)

 

Requirements of the role

-          Relevant experience and knowledge of fashion culture, communication design and concept and design development

-          Experience of working with HE students and enhancing the student experience is highly desirable.

-          Ability to teach industry practices and methods of design development.

-          Applies an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching.

-          Considers equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching practice.

-          Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course.

-          Collaborates and works effectively within team and across professional groups.

-          Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.

-          Plans, prioritises and manages resources effectively to achieve objectives.
