The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Researcher (or Post-Graduate equivalent with demonstrable industry / research experience) to work as a Research & Development (R&D) Fellow, with the Institute of Fashion, Textiles and Technology (IFTT), leading on the development and delivery of novel contract research, with affiliated SMEs and industry partners.

Working with the Associate Director Partnerships and Business Development, Institute of Fashion, Textiles and Technology (IFTT), and across academic, business and innovation teams, the R&D Fellows will play a key role in the strategic design and delivery of contract research and Knowledge Exchange (KE) activities.

The post holder will grow R&D and commercial expertise within IFTT, and be supported to lead development of contract research proposals, and related funding bids to knowledge exchange (KE) and innovation schemes. 

Successful candidates (x 3) will work as part of a transdisciplinary team working across the five pillars of IFTT R&D expertise encompassing: Sustainability; Materials; Manufacturing & Commerce; Retail and Engagement; Digital, with IFTT academic, business and innovation teams. The role will include working on assigned projects with one or more companies to lead on the delivery of R&D.

About you

The post holder/s will have academic and/or industry fashion, textiles and technology related expertise in one or more of the following fields - design; science; engineering; computing; smart manufacturing or business disciplines, with sustainability and circularity as a core principal.
