The opportunity

This post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Specialist Study Skills Tutor to join our innovative Disability Service.

Approximately two-thirds of your time will be spent working directly with students. You will provide specialist 1:1 study skills tuition and SpLD screenings. You will be responsible for associated administrative tasks and will need to establish good working relationships with a range of staff to ensure effective support for disabled students. You will work closely with other tutors and the Specialist Study Skills Coordinator. You will participate in activities to develop processes and procedures to underpin effective delivery of support.

You will be based at London College of Fashion and London College of Communication. You will be expected to work flexibly across other college sites when required.

About you

You will hold a recognised teaching qualification and specialist qualification in the area of SpLD support. You will hold professional membership with a professional body (e.g. Patoss, ADSHE, the British Dyslexia Association, or the Dyslexia Guild) that enables you to meet NMH/DSA-QAG registration guidelines.

You will have comprehensive training or a qualification in autism, or be willing to work towards this qualification within the first year.

You will have experience of teaching students within a Higher Education/Further Education setting. Equally, you are able to work effectively in a team and are able to build and nurture good working relationships. You must be committed to inclusion.

The role requires the post holder to have an enhanced DBS check as the duties for this role involve working with vulnerable adults.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, a final salary pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
