The opportunity

As Critical Practice Senior Lecturer for BA (Hons) Product and Furniture Design, you’ll assume responsibility for the academic leadership, coordination and management of the theory programme in discussion with the Course Leader, across all 3 undergraduate levels. The post-holder will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions. You’ll also take responsibility for the design and development of the curriculum and deliver the Product and Furniture Design Critical Practice/ Theory Programme The BA Product and Furniture Design course requires a specialist in critical practice, history and theory to embed and deliver theory within the curriculum in innovative ways.

 

The role requires that you preside over the day-to-day management of theory, including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of students as well as resource allocation whilst observing and implementing the policies and procedures of the University and the College. The successful applicant will play a key role in the development of the integration of theory and practice within Product and Furniture Design units. 

About you

A postgraduate qualification appropriate to the subject area of critical theory and/or Product and Furniture Design, experience of administration, assessment processes and procedures are essential for the role.  You'll maintain strong links with design practitioners from a wide range of professions, subjects and disciplines and build collaborative links with a range of institutions and employers.
