The opportunity

As a member of the Digital Media technical team, provide professional technical expertise, guidance and knowledge relating to digital making and animation, providing technical teaching, research and commercial activities.

To contribute critical input to student concept and expressive/creative intention, including giving feedback to students and contributing to student formative assessments, with reference to appropriate learning outcomes of the course or project.

To provide support for student learning, informal and formal training and instruction, and the development of proficiency of relevant platforms, tools and methods.

The post holder will be responsible for specialist equipment and consumables usage and maintenance, in accordance with relevant legislation, health and safety policy and University policy. This includes the administration of systems, orders, bookings and maintenance records.

You will bring key skills in Animation, Moving Image and Sound with you - but will have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops. This post is largely a flexible role and you will work to a structured roster over the course of the year.

About you

We are looking for a creative, self-motivated person who can also contribute to the technological development of the department and animation teaching at CSM. You should have a qualification or equivalent professional/industry experience within the relevant area (ie Art and Design, Animation), or have industry experience an area related to digital making.

 

The successful applicant will have knowledge of:

2D Animation:

  • Specific animation workflows in Adobe applications such as After Effects, Character Animator, Photoshop and Premiere
  • Other specialist animation packages such as TV Paint, Toon Boom and Dragonframe

Other Specialist knowledge of:

  • 3D Animation in Cinema 4D or Blender (desirable)
  • 3D Character Design in ZBrush or similar (desirable)
  • 360 Video (desirable)
