The opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced academic to spend nine months leading UAL’s PgCert in Academic Practice (maternity cover). As Course Leader for the PgCert in Academic Practice, you will assume responsibility for the academic leadership and management of the course. The role requires that you lead the day-to-day management of the course including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of students as well as resource allocation whilst observing and implementing the policies and procedures of the University and the Teaching, Learning and Employability Exchange.

About you

We are looking for a motivated academic who is passionate about arts education and has completed the PgCert Academic Practice or its equivalent, and has educational development experience. You will see diversity as central to arts education professional practice and have experience of course administration, pedagogic innovation, and assessment processes.  You will have the ability to manage a small team and work collaboratively with peers. You will take a dynamic and research-informed approach to PgCert in Academic Practice, integrating an inclusive approach throughout.  You will have the confidence to work with your fellow practitioners and educators, facilitating groups and communicating in a range of learning environments, including teaching via online platforms, and on site.

Applicants should have:

  • previous experience of educational development
  • previous experience of unit/module leadership (at postgraduate level)
  • good awareness of HE teaching and learning in the creative arts
  • a postgraduate degree in a related subject area
  • a PgCert in higher education (or equivalent teaching qualification)
  • Fellowship of the HEA.
