The opportunity

To act as the University's Data Protection Officer under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The DPO will be responsible for advising on the measures we need to take to fulfil our obligations under GDPR; monitoring our compliance with applicable legislation; training staff in GDPR, raising awareness of data protection amongst employees and providing a point of contact for regulatory authorities and data subjects.

About you

Located at High Holborn, the DPO will be a lead member in the Information Compliance Unit with a degree or equivalent in English law or another recognised qualification or similar data protection qualifiation or relevant experience in data protection.

The postholder will be an excellent communicator who is able to motivate, influence and engage people, including senior management, with the practical application of legislative requirements. You will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and will enjoy working closely with others to develop and implement policy change. 

You will be a self-starter, able to work independently as well as part of a team and take the initiative to lead where required. The dynamic nature of the role means that it is essential that you are organised and composed.  Finally, you will have an eye for detail and committed to delivering results to an exceptionally high standard.
