The opportunity

A weekend librarian post is available at University of the Arts London. As part of an established weekend team you will be responsible for the effective delivery of Library Services based at London College of Communication (LCC). There will be a primary site, but you may be required to work on another site as necessary.

This is a weekend term time only contract (38 weeks) at 4.5 hours per week (0.11 FTE) Between 31-34 weeks are rostered hours worked on a set weekend day. The remainder are reserve hours planned with you in advance to accommodate extra weekend or weekday opening, plus staff training and development. There may be a requirement to work these reserve hours on an agreed weekday.

Rostered work pattern is:

Saturday LCC 3.45pm - 8.15pm 




 

About you

You will be educated to Undergraduate or Postgraduate level, with a qualification in Library and Information Studies, or equivalent.

You will have experience of managing services and staff within a library or information services environment, including provision of IT support services. You will have a customer focussed approach and work with colleagues to provide a high quality user experience.  You will have excellent communication skills and liaise with colleagues working throughout the week and weekends to ensure a coherent and consistent experience for our users.  You will provide support for teaching learning and research, ideally having experience of this within an academic setting, e.g. enquiry services, on-site, and remotely as required.  You will have the ability to maintain up to date knowledge of services available in your own and related areas of work, monitoring standards and levels of service constantly, adapting services and systems to ensure they meet customer needs.
