The opportunity

We are seeking multiple Associate Lecturers in Contextual and Theoretical Studies, teaching into the BA Hons Animation course across all 3 years.

Your main responsibilities will be working as part of the BA Animation Contextual and Theoretical Studies team including preparation, teaching, assessment, student support and administration of the CTS and Introduction to Animation units across years 1, 2 & 3. In year 1 the role typically involves teaching and supporting students in developing an understanding of how theory relates to practice as well as developing academic researching and writing skills. Year 2 focuses on preparation for writing a thesis proposal and in year 3 you will supervise a thesis group. You will work closely with other academic staff, including the CTS coordinator, the CTS team and the course leader. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and support our students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching theory ideally in Higher Education. You will take a dynamic and innovative approach to supporting excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity. You will have a critical, historical and theoretical knowledge of animation and moving image practice as well as an understanding of animation in the wider context of visual communications such as AR, VR, interactivity, game arts and VFX. You will have a substantial knowledge and expertise in the global social, cultural, environmental, political and economic issues that are transforming moving image practices and discourses. 

PG Cert teaching qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
