Sound Arts Support Technician

The opportunity

This new role provides an exciting opportunity to work in the education sector delivering industry-focused skills and knowledge. The role will primarily provide specialist technical support for the MA and BA Sound Arts & Design courses. Working within the college technical team and alongside academics, the role will be instrumental in developing and inspiring our students’ ability to understand, interpret and challenge the world around us.

This is a unique opportunity to support technical resources aligned to the School of Screen, and to consolidate and shape our students’ analogue and digital sound skills. The role will include maintaining and developing technical resources, issuing equipment, supporting student inductions, workshops, rigging, and assisting students in the use of highly specialist audio software.

About you

You will have experience working in the sound industry or in Higher Education, preferably within a sound department or post-production studio facility. You will have a strong technical knowledge of sound technology, audio engineering, acoustics, location and music recording. Good communication skills are necessary in the role, as you will need to demonstrate patience and sensitivity when working with students and academic staff. You will also support students in developing their creative audio technology skills. You must be a strong team player as many of the skills required for this role involve efficient and effective working as part of a team.
