The opportunity

The Design School is looking to recruit a Lecturer to contribute across MA Design for Art Direction and MA Design Management and Cultures courses.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with highly creative and innovative approaches to visual communication and project management in creative industry organisations. The position invites applicants who are keen on the future facing development of these courses and in particular raising their profile internationally.

As a lecturer you will be responsible for delivery of the units dedicated to visual communication and design/creative practice across both MAs, including implementation of digital literacy within the curricula. You will bring research and/or industry and teaching experience at postgraduate level. You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centered teaching as well as making a significant contribution to pedagogic development of the course, assessment, quality management and recruitment.

The appointed candidate will work under the direction of the Course Leader to deliver the course as well as contributing to School, College and University.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a qualification at undergraduate and postgraduate level relevant to the subject area of art direction and/or design management. You will have knowledge of delivering innovative projects in a professional and/or academic environment and experience of a range of specialist skills and techniques of visual communication and project management including digital literacy.

As an academic, previous teaching experience at undergraduate level is essential in addition to experience of research and/or professional practice in visual communication, creative leadership or equivalent design practice, including use of various relevant software applications.

The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be an innovative student-centred teacher. They will possess strong communication and organisational skills, whilst being able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise. They will also be able to undertake international travel and operate effectively in international educational contexts.
