The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic Screen School at the London College of Communication. Only two years old, Screen School is beginning to define itself both nationally and internationally. This is an ideal time for a person with vision and drive to join a dedicated team in the development of a growing academic portfolio in Film, Television, Animation, Games, VFX, VR, Sound Art, Sound Design, Music for Moving Image and Music Production. Together these form the basis of a School that works in the narrative, interactive and performative arts. We are looking for an Associate Dean with knowledge and expertise in one or more of these areas to work with the Dean and wider School to grow and support these programmes and the overall agenda of the School in establishing its reputation as a world-leading centre of excellence in screen education.

You will support the Dean of Screen in the strategic planning and effective operation of the School, working on projects assigned by the Dean and deputising, where appropriate. You will also be responsible for management and oversight of the development process of a growing academic portfolio. The role includes the knowledge, management and implementation of quality assurance, monitoring processes and academic administration across the academic portfolio, as well the implementation of UAL and College teaching, assessment and learning policies, and you will work with Dean of Academic Development and Strategy and other College and School Associate Deans to achieve this.

You will be a member of the Screen School Management Team and LCC College Operational Group. You will work closely with the Associate Dean of Research, the Director of International Development and the Director of Business and Innovation, to foster liaison between the College Research, Knowledge Exchange and International Teams to ensure the School is participating in collaborative initiatives across all areas.

About you

With a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent, you will have extensive professional knowledge and experience in one of the School’s academic disciplines; successful experience of shaping, influencing and managing projects and initiatives; knowledge of quality assurance policy, processes and procedures; a ‘can do’ approach with excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate others and foster highly effective, cross-team working. A proven track record of being innovative in your professional practice, effective planning and managing operational activities and large projects to achieve long term objectives is essential.
