The opportunity

CSM is a pioneering world leader in art and design education. With Performance and digital technology constantly evolving at a rapid speed, we work at the cutting edge of new thinking and developments to prepare our students for successful careers in the creative industries of the future. The Performance technical resource provides technical theatre support to a students from a range of subject areas that can include, Performance Design, Animation, Screen, Graphic and Communication Design, Fashion, Fine Art, Architecture, Spatial Practices, external events and visiting companies.

You will not only bring key skills in fundamental theatre technical practice including familiarity with rigging, lighting and sound, but you will have good professional applied experience in video, projection and multimedia theatre arts, including motion capture, show visualisation and control. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops. This post is largely a flexible role and you will work to a structured roster over the course of the year.

About you

We are looking for a creative, self-motivated person who can also contribute to the technological development of the department. You should have a qualification within the relevant area (ie Performance, Art and Design) or have industry experience in an area related to Performance and Theatre Multimedia production.

The successful applicant will have knowledge of:

- LX lighting, sound, video, show control interfacing and programming, use of 3D and 2D in projection and projection mapping.

- Using key specialist software packages such as Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya, Adobe Substance (desirable), Isadora or equivalent show control software (essential) or any other necessary tools.

 Other Specialist knowledge of:

-  Animation, VR or CAD workflows (desirable)

-  Performance video streaming (desirable)
