Our Director of Health and Safety is a brand new role for the University.  Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Chief Operating Officer) and leading a newly created central team supporting specific business areas, you will lead, develop and deliver engaging, creative and innovative approaches which support the development and delivery of a high-performance health and safety culture. In leading this strategy and implementation for our 2,800 salaried staff, 19,000 students and visitors, you will have a pivotal and visible leadership role in achieving our ambition whereby excellent health and safety is accepted and expected.
University of the Arts London is a vibrant world centre for innovation, drawing together six colleges with international reputations in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts. Having just expanded our Camberwell site following building development work, we have further ambitious change programmes planned taking us into 2022 with new builds of two of our colleges; the London College of Fashion to Stratford and the London College of Communication at Elephant and Castle.

Applications are welcome from across sectors.  Candidates will be recognised leaders in their field and able to demonstrate a contribution to health and safety national and regional agendas. Your track record will include experience of autonomous leadership and evidence of having identified issues, provided solutions and influenced others to adopt solutions in regard to health and safety performance. You will also be a proven change manager, able to demonstrate your ability to manage structural and cultural change across large and complex organisations. First class communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence multiple stakeholders are essential.
