The opportunity

UAL Awarding Body is expanding. To meet strong demand from the sectors we serve we are recruiting to a number of new posts across a range of job functions and roles. The role of Quality Officer is one of these posts. To join us, you'll need a proven track record of developing and monitoring systems and processes, implementing effective quality assurance and ensuring compliance standards are met. You will have experience of working in a regulatory framework and have a genuine commitment to providing exemplary customer service.

Reporting to the Senior Quality Officer, for whom they will occasionally deputise, the role will work alongside another Quality Officer and a Quality Administrator, and is responsible for the maintenance, development and monitoring of the quality assurance policies and processes that support the UAL Awarding Body’s core business functions. The Quality Officer will also be responsible for identifying and addressing potential and/or actual risks and areas of concern, advising the Senior Quality Officer accordingly.

The Quality Officer will actively support the Senior Quality Officer in achieving and maintaining full compliance with qualification regulators such as Ofqual, CCEA and Qualification Wales.

They will be responsible for the production of the annual self- evaluation activity; collating evidence in response to the regulators’ requirements, conducting a full review of systems and processes and in turn, assessing the level of compliance against all of the regulators’ conditions.

The role will work closely with the other Quality Officer, taking ownership of all internal and external queries regarding quality and compliance functions, and will be responsible for ensuring all staff in the wider team are aware of their responsibilities, ensuring quality is at the core of all business functions.

About you

A naturally meticulous investigator, you will continually evaluate current systems and processes with a view to identifying areas of concern and determining those which require improvement to meet the needs of the regulators.

You will employ your expert quality and compliance knowledge to evaluate business functions, negotiating solutions with staff and being confident in your communications about setting and maintaining standards.

Ideally, you will have some understanding of Further Education (FE) qualifications and regulatory bodies, such as Ofqual. Experience of working with an external verification and/or external moderation quality assurance model is desirable. You will certainly be motivated, hardworking, highly organised and a skilled problem solver. Able to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail, you excel at analysing complex information, but are also collaborative, supportive and a strong team player.

Educated to degree or equivalent professional qualification, you will commit to your own development through effective use of processes such as UAL’s excellent appraisal scheme and staff development opportunities.
