The opportunity

This is an unusual and exciting opportunity for sound art/sound studies post-doc candidates to work nationally and internationally on the promise of listening as a legitimate and valuable investigative methodology that can be employed across disciplines: humanities, science, social science art and technology fields. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to work with the research team, to support the investigation, documentation and application of current listening practices across various disciplines, in order to analyse and evaluate the status quo and subsequently design listening protocols for testing and development within different disciplinary frameworks. This research will inform the role of listening as a legitimate artistic and scientific tool for research and application with the aim to further and diversify knowledge production, to expand what knowledge can be gleaned and thus what new approaches can be developed across various disciplines.

About you

You will have gained your doctoral qualification at least one year ago, and have since then established an independent professional and collaborative practice in sound arts, with relevant experience in international perspectives on auditory studies and practices. You will have experience in diverse audio, visual and audio-visual recording and editing, broadcasting and archiving, and a real enthusiasm and ability to analyse, interpret and document work. In addition you will have an interest in listening as a legitimate cross-disciplinary methodology. You will be expected to be confident in Wordpress, social media platforms and to work as part of a cross- disciplinary team in the UK and abroad.
