The opportunity

3D is one of four pathways on the BA Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins. As a tutor on 3D, your responsibilities will include teaching, assessment, unit management, curriculum development and research in fine art practice.

The candidate will work within the 3D Pathway, which deals with the practical and philosophical problems posed by materiality. The candidate will be required to support students across a range of media (digital and analogue) and critically engage in reflexive, experimental and discursive processes. The candidate will encourage engagement and reflection on both sculpture and its expanded field within a framework of studio and workshop practices and the histories of these practices.

About you

You will be an experienced academic and professional practitioner in the field of Fine Art practice and or history and theory with a proven ability and strong commitment to learning, teaching and research in Fine Art at Graduate level. You will promote the pursuit of the highest academic standards and of reflection, enquiry and creative risk taking to ensure that students are well equipped intellectually, creatively and technically, not only to meet the challenges of contemporary professional practice, but to anticipate and initiate change.

You will have experience of teaching and course organisation and management, at undergraduate degree level.  A dynamic, enthusiastic and committed academic, you will demonstrate an ability to motivate students and work as part of a team to engage and build relationships with external organisations, institutions and individuals.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.

What we offer

We are UAL

Central Saint Martins is a world-leading centre for arts and design education.  Its reputation stems from the creative energy of its staff and students and the stellar achievements of its graduates nationally and internationally.  The nine programmes at CSM explore the boundaries of their discipline.  Students and staff are continually alert to new ideas, and are curious and restless in developing beyond the expected norms of their subject, so emerging work is at the forefront of its area.  CSM sits at the heart of London’s creative scene, and of one of Europe’s most dynamic new culture and innovation quarters at King’s Cross, making the college increasingly important to London’s cultural life, and indicative of our general desire to open up CSM to as broad an audience as possible.
