The opportunity

Join a multi-disciplinary team of specialists supporting art and design students to develop their skills in physical computing.

The Creative Technology Lab is a purpose-built space at the London College of Communication where students can access staff expertise and the latest specialist equipment. The Creative Technology Lab team specialises in supporting emerging technologies, including physical computing, creative coding, machine learning, VR and AR.

We work to make the Lab an inclusive, accessible space where every student feels welcome and supported, whether they are just starting out with developing interactive projects or looking for help with advanced concepts and workflows.

Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you will help students research, iterate, and realise their projects from conception to installation/publication. You will develop and teach structured workshops in physical computing, as well as providing project-led one-to-one support, empowering students to develop a broad range of technical skills.

About you

You will have a relevant qualification and/or considerable experience in a relevant industry, and strong knowledge of physical computing technologies, processes and techniques, demonstrated in your existing portfolio of work. You will have some experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring or demonstrating/presenting in some capacity. Knowledge of related areas such as creative coding, web technologies or VR/AR is desirable but not essential.

You will be capable of working with technicians and academics in the college to develop and deliver innovative, inclusive teaching to support students of all skill levels and abilities. You will be comfortable researching and experimenting with new technologies, and willing to develop competencies in areas outside of your core expertise with appropriate support. You will be a creative and motivated individual who is able to work effectively as part of a team.

Applicants must provide a link to an online portfolio of work as part of the application process.
