Course Leader, Design for Visual Communication

The opportunity

The Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Design for Visual Communication is a world-leading course in applied design practices. With a broad appeal to a diverse cohort of students, an impressive profile of alumni in industry and a culture of innovation and experimentation in design education, we seek a new course leader for the next stage of its development.

As Course Leader, Design for Visual Communication you will be responsible for the delivery and development of the course including the curriculum, collaborations, quality processes, budgeting and resourcing. The successful candidate will also oversee the course through the expansion of the curriculum at a time of social, technological and ecological change.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the course in relationship with the course team and the programme director, developing industry-facing projects and partnerships, research and knowledge exchange activities, monitoring performance data and representing the course and subject at programme, college and university level.

About you

We are seeking a candidate with strong industry and/or research experience in design. With an emphasis on applied practice and theoretical and technical literacy in emerging technologies in design. They will also have an understanding of the interdisciplinary needs of future graduates with skills in design thinking, strategy, research and participatory practices.

The candidate should have a strong network they can bring to the course to strengthen the existing relationships with industry and an ambition to develop these in line with school and college objectives. They will have experience of strategic management, curriculum planning, resourcing as well as teaching and practice at postgraduate level or beyond.
