The opportunity

Grade 2 Library Assistant – Library and Open Access IT (0.74 FTE) at London College of Fashion.

Temporary Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave from 7 January 2019 to 4 October 2019. Please note that the duration may be shortened if the post holder choses to come back earlier.

The focus of this role is to assist in the delivery of high quality customer-focused library and open access IT services.

You will participate in front-line services and administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing. You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries; including the use of the library catalogue, electronic information resources and participate in roaming support. You will also be required to participate in shelving activities.

The role is part time and includes the requirement to work one day a week until 6.00pm during term time, currently Tuesdays, and until 6.15 in the vacations, on a rota basis.

The working pattern for this role is:

Monday 9.00 – 5.00

Tuesday 10.00 – 6.00

Wednesday 9.00 – 5.00

Thursday 9.00 – 2.00

About you

You should have relevant library or customer service experience in a library and will be able to work independently, excellent communication skills both written and oral and be IT literate

You are able to ensure that accurate information is passed onto the most appropriate people in a timely fashion and have experience of answering standard questions/queries from customers. You should have experience of working as a member of a team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed.
