Open Learning Designer - UAL online

The opportunity

If you offer considerable experience in the design and delivery of digital learning, with substantive knowledge of digital learning pedagogies and technologies, this position offers an opportunity to play a key role in an exciting online initiative.

University of the Arts London is launching UAL Online (working title), which will set a new benchmark for creative education and widen access to UAL’s innovative teaching and creative knowledge community across our six colleges. Most importantly, this initiative will deliver a more inclusive university, for more learners and strengthen UAL as a world-leading institution.

UAL Online will enrich UAL’s transcultural community, bringing together aspiring creatives at all stages of their creative and professional journeys without the environmental impact of air travel or the cost of relocating. A combination of accredited and open opportunities will connect a diversity of voices, taking an active role in decolonising cultural and knowledge production.

We are bringing together a new team to shape and develop this work, which will include three Open Learning Designers. This is an exciting role at the forefront of online learning, developing what it means to engage with creative subject areas internationally online. 

About you

You will be central to the co-design process with academics, fellow designers, and other members of the new team. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing and implementing inclusive and accessible online learning
• Constructing and maintaining online structures and content in assigned courses and units
• Supporting key academic staff to facilitate an excellent student experience and effective pedagogical practices
• Contributing to the design and implementation of UAL Online Courses/university facing research and evaluation
• Advising on the development, direction and design of the digital environment of UAL Online Courses
