The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to gain wider industry experience, and lead on the provision of a first class administration service in this specialist role. 

You will be a pensions’ professional who enjoys managing pension provision across multiple defined benefit schemes. You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive pensions service to all staff of the University, You will manage the work of the Pensions team and direct them in their duties to ensure delivery of a high quality and professional operational service on a day to day basis. 

You will be someone who is used to dealing with people at all levels, with excellent communication and relationship building skills. You will work collaboratively acting as a key contact with the relevant pension schemes ensuring that policies are adhered to processes are followed, and information provided to the administrators is accurate and complies with all statutory obligations. 

About you

A Professional pensions qualification would be desirable 

It is essential that you have experience in a similar role at another University or similar sized company 

Complete understanding of the regulations governing the Local Government & Teachers Pension schemes. With particular regard to scheme requirements for the submission of information needed for the Monthly and Annual returns would be desirable 

Knowledge of Automatic enrolment and re enrolment is essential 

Your ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and/or using visual media is essential 

Your ability to explain complex pension issues simply to all levels of staff including HR colleagues and those nearing retirement is essential 

It is essential that your experience will enable you to motivate and manage the work of the team on a day to day basis, setting clear objectives.  

Ability to be competent at Planning, prioritising and organising work to achieve objectives on time is essential 

It is essential that you work collaboratively in a team and where appropriate across or with different professional groups 

Your ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students or customers is desirable 

Your ability to use your initiative or creativity to resolve problems is desirable
