The opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety, the Head of Health and Safety - Operations is a new role in the University Health and Safety team; the role has been created to:

  • provide focussed line-management of four College-based health and safety advisors
  • operationalist the University's Health and Safety Strategy ensuring delivery of improvement activities and projects into the Colleges and support services departments
  • ensuring that the health and safety arrangements remain effective in providing a safe and healthy work and study environment for our staff and students

The role is nominally based in Kings Cross but will require travel to our different sites across London.

About you

The successful applicant will be someone who is a thoroughly modern health and safety professional.  As well as holding a NEBOSH diploma (or equivalent qualification) and being a chartered member of IOSH, the ideal candidate will be able to inspire, coach and lead the team of health and safety advisors to provide an excellent support service for our stakeholders - our staff and students.  They will have excellent written/ presentation and influencing skills, and be highly effective in building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders.  

As the role is a new position in the University the candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Director of Health and Safety to shape the role so it best meets the requirements of the team and stakeholders.
