We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead on developing and managing delivery of a staff development offer that supports effective knowledge exchange practice across both academic and non-academic staff, building our institutional capacity, and enabling delivery of the highest standards of knowledge exchange consistently across UAL.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with experience of designing integrated programmes of staff training, events and communications, which result in enhanced knowledge and practices, effective peer-to-peer learning, new communities of practice, and a culture of evaluation and continuous improvement. The role will require you to think and engage strategically, whilst delivering a programme of practical engagement and development activities in support of UAL’s institutional strategy and priorities.

As the largest specialist arts institution in Europe, University of the Arts London (UAL) is a vibrant global centre for creative arts innovation, drawing together six Colleges with international reputations in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts.

This is an exciting time to join UAL, as part of a growing team with responsibility for driving innovation and knowledge exchange (KE) activity that leverages our expertise across UAL’s broad range of creative disciplines to achieve profile, scale and impact for the University and benefits the wider creative economy in London and beyond.

You will have a strong working knowledge of contemporary approaches to Development and Training, and experience of working across large organisations (ideally in a higher education context), working across different teams and cultures to identify and address staff development needs. You will ideally have a working knowledge of the staff development requirements for individuals (academic and/or non-academic) working in a research, innovation and/or knowledge exchange context.

You demonstrate a proven ability to successfully engage staff in identifying their development needs, and in working with colleagues or suppliers to develop interventions that are tailored to meet them. You can communicate ideas clearly and inclusively, and ideally have experience of influencing at a senior level. You can also co-ordinate and review work, effort, and resources, ensuring maximum efficiency and delivery of goals.

In return, UAL offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
