The opportunity

The successful candidate will be:

- Designing and delivering lectures, including design theory, seminars, studio-based workshops, tutorials across textile design and within the DMP programme. These will be appropriate to level of study (e.g. undergraduate to postgraduate), and aligned to your specialist area of expertise.

- Supporting the newly developed Design and Material Practices Programme (DMP).


 

About you

We are looking to recruit Hourly Paid Lecturers with evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of the material design driven goals of the programme.

We are committed to developing ethical textile practices. We ask that all staff consider ways to embed UAL’s Principles for Climate, Social and Racial Justice in their teaching and learning practices.

Experience of collaborative practice and interdisciplinary working would be beneficial.

Specialist skills could include:

- Bio-based material/ textile innovation

- Colour, Material and Finish (CMF)

- Contextual and theoretical studies

- Design driven material innovation aligned to 1 or more textile specialism e.g., knit, print, stitch or weave

- Expertise in emerging technologies e.g. AR/VR

- Smart textiles/e-textiles

- Simulation technologies for material design with working knowledge of 3D textile and fashion design software

- 3D printing
