The opportunity

You will assist with the acquisition, management, maintenance and promotion of print and e-subscriptions to serials and other resources. You will also manage information related to the licensing of resources, including the University’s annual return to the Copyright Licensing Authority (CLA)


You will administer the serials budget, monitoring expenditure, and providing reports as requested.


You will liaise with our serials supplier (currently LM Prenax) and serials publishers, via phone and email.


You will manage UAL's CLA return and queries relating to use of the license.


You will work closely with colleagues especially the Discovery Manager (Resources & Communications), the Resources & Systems Manager and the Acquisitions and Metadata Librarian, as well as the library Finance team.


You will directly line manage 1 G2 Library Assistant, and support, and be supported by, a small team of Library Assistants in relation to serials work.


You will be the first point of contact for serials queries from staff and students, as well as answering general enquiries. You will also liaise with teaching and other University staff in relation to CLA queries and take part in external networks.


 

About you

You will have excellent communication skills, and be able to express yourself clearly & confidently in writing, face to face, by phone or by email.


You can work independently, but are equally comfortable working as part of a team.


You will be highly organised, with good attention to detail and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.


You will ideally have worked with serials and have experience of subscription resources.


You will ideally have experience of administering a budget.
