The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Publication Print team. As a Grade 3 Technician you will provide technical support to groups and individuals for taught programs. You will play an integral part of the technical team, contributing your experience in publication print, and responsible for supporting the Specialist Technician in the day-to-day operation of resources.

The role will encompass professional applied experience linked to print production and creative publication use of Inkjet, Laser and Risograph printing. You will have an excellent knowledge and relevant experience of techniques used in publication production and digital printing on a variety of substrates, and also be experienced in a variety of finishing and binding techniques for large and small-scale publication work. With a working knowledge of creative desktop publication and print management software, and a carbon literacy relevant to materials use and production planning you will help prepare our students for successful careers in the creative industries of the future. You will ensure staff and students develop creative learning in an environment that is both productive and safe. You will have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops in an evolving area.

If you are interested in coming for a tour of our workshops on Wednesday 14th June at 10am, please email Jess Kilpatrick: j.kilpatrick@csm.arts.ac.uk to register your interest. Jess will confirm the dates and times of the tours directly with you.

About you

We are looking for adaptable, dynamic, self-motivated people. Ideally a creative individual with a passion for contemporary print publication who will relish the challenge of supporting a diverse range of talented and renowned academics.

We need someone who is a good communicator, able to explain complex information clearly, enthusiastic about imparting knowledge to students and meeting the challenge of a busy publication production and technical learning resource. You should have a good working knowledge of sustainable materials and digital editing, and an awareness and appreciation of the need for high levels of customer care, and open-access approaches to workshop learning environments.

If there are any aspects of the role that you may require training in, then this will be provided. CSM is committed to the personal development of its technical staff.

UAL is committed to addressing the under-representation of staff from Black and Minority Ethnic communities, using our student profile as a reference point.
