The opportunity

University of the Arts London offer a variety of courses preparing students for careers in the fashion industry, such as Tailoring, Sewing Skills and Garment Making. We now have an exciting opportunity for a qualified sewing machine mechanic/technician to play a key role supporting the day-to-day operation of teaching and learning facilities.

You will provide assistance and advice to students in relation to the safe use and maintenance of sewing room machinery and workshop equipment and undertake the daily preparation of facilities and resources to ensure that they are in safe and effective working order.

You will also assist in the planning, preparation, mounting and dismantling of exhibitions and other public events.

About you

You will need a City & Guilds – Craft & Advanced Certificates for Clothing Machine Mechanics qualification or equivalent qualifications or experience.

Relevant experience in repairing and maintaining sewing equipment is equally important.
