The opportunity

LCF's Digital Learning Labs are the premier digital spaces at LCF, University of the Arts London, with an ambitious vision to explore futures of digital for fashion. Working across academic, industry and student led agendas within the University, the Digital Learning Labs provide experimental environments to explore emerging futures of digital experience.

The role seeks to provide specialist technical skills for the Digital Learning Labs and associated areas to accommodate student flow within the Lab and to contribute and enhance student projects. The role critically seeks to appoint a candidate able to provide critical digital skills and design thinking in the form of student inductions, workshops and drop-in session to inspire and guide on the technical application of the evolving space of where digital collides with fashion.

About you

We are seeking a specialist technician who is keen to extend our digital practice in technical areas by developing workshops across LCF.

You will live and breathe technology, pick up new tech applications quickly and be able to create new opportunities in the area to develop and enhance the student experience. Key skills may include but not be limited to areas of digital garment design and visualization software (CLO 3D), NHEGA NSHOT camera-based pattern digitizer, body scanning and fabric digitizer.

We are seeking a candidate who is able to work simultaneously across multiple projects and sites to help us build a network of technologies, technicians, experiments and ideas for students, staff and research fellows to interact with from within the Lab.

You will relish the opportunity to see students get to grips with a new technology and push it forward, you will be a confident presenter, able to inspire with your dictionary of technology experience, and you will question and work with our academic community to make the seemingly digitally impossible a reality for fashion.

Our remit is broad, and whilst we are seeking a candidate who specialises in one or more areas, we are searching for a hybrid technician who is excited about the possibilities of working in an experimental, and futures facing technical role for fashion.
