The opportunity

The post-holder will take responsibility for developing and implementing UAL’s PG (UK) and UAL Online/low residency (all levels of study/markets) recruitment strategies and activity plans, ensuring that provision is student-focused, supports UAL-wide student recruitment objectives, operates effectively across both digital and face to face platforms, and is accessible to students from a diverse range of backgrounds. 

In addition to a focus on recruitment for PG (UK) and UAL Online courses, the post-holder will take a lead in ensuring UAL’s recruitment projects and activities, across both UG and PG study levels, are aligned with and support UAL's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategies and plans.

The postholder will require an in-depth knowledge of sector recruitment practice, awareness of current and emerging HE policy issues, an ability to interpret and respond to the latest market insights, and a commitment to the provision of an excellent student recruitment experience from discovery to enrolment.  They will work with a wide range of stakeholders across UAL (including all teams in SMRA; Outreach; the University Central Planning Unit; Policy; UAL Awarding Body, Student Funding, and College Student Marketing and Recruitment teams) to drive and input into collaborative change projects designed to support recruitment diversity and inclusion, such as developing effective student funding packages; new product/course development; contextual admissions, admissions-related projects designed to facilitate access to UAL; and the UAL Anti-Racism Action plan. 

The role will involve close collaboration with Student Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions colleagues including the Student Recruitment Manager for UK UG Recruitment, the Marketing Manager for UAL Online, and members of the International Recruitment team in order to share best practice, manage team resource effectively, and ensure that all recruitment activity is accessible and delivered to schedule and to a high standard. The post-holder will deputise for the Head of UK Student Recruitment as required.

About you

Your profile should include -

  • Significant experience of working in the higher education sector in a student recruitment role.
  • An in-depth understanding of the student recruitment lifecycle including the stages of enquiry/discovery, application and selection, and offer to enrol.
  • Experience of developing and operationalising HE recruitment strategies/plans in response to market factors, and an ability to continually evaluate success and improve outcomes.
  • Experience of working with partners e.g. schools and colleges and /or industry partners/employers in a liaison role.
  • An in-depth knowledge of sector recruitment practice, and a good awareness of current and emerging HE policy issues.
  • A commitment to the provision of an excellent student recruitment experience from discovery to enrolment.
  • Experience of enhancing prospective student experience/supporting the delivery of student recruitment strategies by developing and delivering change projects.
  • Experience of driving engagement and buy-in from a wide range of key stakeholders (academic and professional) in student recruitment.
