Lecturer in Design for Art Direction

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with an experimental and creative approach art direction applied within design projects. The position invites applicants who are particularly interested in facilitating learning of first year students that come from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds in the area of design and art direction.

As a lecturer, you will be responsible for delivery of varied art direction units across the course with the focus on critical practice, moving image, photography and visual communication. You will bring research and/or industry and teaching experience at undergraduate level. You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centered teaching as well as making a significant contribution to the development of the course curriculum, assessment, quality management and recruitment.

The appointed candidate will work under the direction of the Course Leader to deliver the course as well as contribute to School, College and University.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a qualification at undergraduate and postgraduate level relevant to the subject area of art direction. You will have knowledge of delivering creative projects in a professional environment and experience of a range of specialist skills in relation to art direction and inclusive teaching. You will also have comprehensive knowledge of learning and teaching in international contexts and supporting student transition from secondary to university education.

As an academic, previous teaching experience at undergraduate level is essential in addition to experience of professional practice in art direction as well as initiating partnerships and developing industry collaborative projects. You will also be able to cite examples of engagement with culturally diverse contexts.

The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be an innovative student-centred teacher focused on promoting diversity and inclusivity, while delivering reflective and critical practice supported by visual communication strategies. They will possess strong communication and organisational skills, whilst being able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.
