The opportunity

As the Senior Application Lead you will be providing specialist support within the Business Services team, developing and maintaining supported services within an ITIL environment. You will bring best practice and act as a subject matter expert for a variety of technologies across the Business application support team. You will provide a senior level of support and help mentor Application Support Analysts within the team. You will also liaise with other technical teams within IT Services and external suppliers where required.

You will provide a senior level of support and help mentor Application Support Analysts within the team. You will also liaise with other technical teams within IT Services and external suppliers where required.

You will be supporting a wide range of enterprise and bespoke applications alongside related technologies including Windows, IIS, .Net, Linux, Apache, Red Hat, SQL and Oracle. You will need to be passionate about technology with the drive to develop the team’s knowledge and adherence to best practice and help them to deliver a high quality service.

About you

  • Strong experience of supporting and maintaining enterprise and bespoke applications is essential for this position
  • Experience of mentoring and motivating team members and acting as an escalation point on application support issues is essential
  • Experience of managing customer relationships and third party suppliers is required
  • A good understanding of ITIL service management processes and experience of using a service management tool is advantageous
  • Experience of Windows and Linux operating systems, IIS, Apache, Tomcat, MS SQL and Oracle technologies are all highly desirable
  • Any experience of PowerShell Scripting and working with applications across a variety of architecture (3 tier client server) would be advantageous

 Communication 

  • You will be a self-motivated and dynamic individual who is able to engage, challenge and influence others, to develop and maintain collaborative working relations across IT and non-IT departments
  • High level, proven inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively within a team of IT professionals
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels, including the ability to problem solve
