The opportunity
As Lecturer BA (Hons) Design Management and Cultures (Global Histories, Theories and Futures) you will develop and deliver units in collaboration with other colleagues on the theories, methods and practices of design management and design futures. There will be an international and critical focus to your teaching that encourages students to question and explore the historical and contemporary contexts in which they practice. You will support the Course Leader in the day-to-day management of the BA (Hons) Design Management and Cultures course and undertake teaching, curriculum development across all years. You will also teach on related postgraduate courses such as MA Design Management and Cultures as required by Programme Director.
The BA (Hons) Design Management and Cultures is a unique course that offers a creative approach to the study of design business, global cultures and histories. Unlike other design management courses, which are mainly theoretical and taught through lectures and seminars, the BA (Hons) Design Management and Cultures course combines creative practice with academic study. Students apply critical thinking and design research methods to a range of projects and collaborations that address global, social, business and environmental needs. The course provides students with hands on experience of a range of design practices and technical applications relevant to design management in order for them to understand the work of design professionals and creatives in more depth so that they can lead, commission, develop and deliver design projects more effectively. Contact Dr Nicky Ryan n.ryan@lcc.arts.ac.uk for further information or an informal discussion relating to the post.
