The opportunity

As Lecturer BA (Hons) Spatial Design (Digital 2D Communication and 3D Visualisation) you will support the Course Leader in the day-to-day management of the BA (Hons) Spatial Design course and undertake teaching, curriculum development across all years. With a specialism in 2D Communication and 3D Visualisation skills this role has a particular responsibility for ensuring that spatial design students develop high level graphic design, information design, typography, photography and digital image creation, design/layout and online publishing skills. The role requires a conceptual and intellectual engagement with the subject of spatial design in addition to proficient technical and practical skills. 

The BA (Hons) Spatial Design course offers students the opportunity to design the way spaces look, feel and function. Blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior the course offers a range of pathways including: Design for Branded Spaces; Curation and Exhibition Design; Social and Environmental Design and Design for Living. The focus is on manipulating spaces to create identities, multi-sensory experiences, and innovative events in a sustainable and environmentally conscious context. About you

We are looking for someone with a relevant undergraduate and postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in spatial design or closely related discipline. Knowledge of spatial design skills, practices, theories, professional practices and experimental processes required. You should be digitally proficient in the relevant software and have high level 2D communication and 3D visualisation skills including graphic and communication design, information design and interaction, typography, photography and digital image creation, graphic layout, print production, online publishing skills; visual research, design and concept development; design for 2D/3D environments; drawing and sketching, prototyping; model making and construction. Experience of professional creative practices, interdisciplinary design projects and user-centred practices in relation to spatial design; and teaching, supporting and developing creative practices across undergraduate and postgraduate spatial/interior design and/or architecture courses. We are seeking an individual with strong conceptual, communication and organisational skills who is a good team player and able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.
