The opportunity

The International: Introduction to Design Media and Screen (NQF level 3) is a one-year course that provides a practical and theoretical introduction to the varied disciplines of design, media and screen communication, aimed at international students who want to progress to an undergraduate course at London College of Communication. Students explore a range of pathways including; graphic design, branding, advertising, journalism, spatial design, public relations, games design, film and photography. As Course Leader of the International: Introduction to Design, Media and Screen you will be responsible to the Associate Dean of Design for the academic leadership and management of the course. This includes maintenance and enhancement of standards, responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum plus the day-to-day management of the course including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of students as well as resources allocated.

About you

To lead and manage the course we are looking for an inspirational leader with an academic background in Design, Media or Screen and/or significant industry experience. You should be an active researcher with a network of industry and academic contacts and have (or be prepared to undertake) a PG teaching qualification. Previous leadership and management experience is essential. You should be able to demonstrate an experience of working with international students, and teaching, assessment and curriculum development in design and media communications or closely related discipline at level 3. We are seeking an individual with strong communication, management and organisational skills who is a good team player and able to work collaboratively with colleagues from other courses in the programme in order to develop the subject area and share expertise.
