The opportunity

This role is designed to support printmaking techniques including, but not limited to intaglio, relief printing and lithography, within one of the most established technical departments at the college. Working in the Print and Design Team, the role will support courses within the Design School including Foundation, BA Graphic Design, BA Illustration and MA Graphics. The day-to-day duties will include maintaining printmaking facilities, such as Etching Presses, Acid Booths, and Exposure Units.

As a teaching and learning technician the successful applicant will be expected to lead student inductions and workshops in printmaking disciplines and assist students with highly specialist techniques. The role will be positioned to support a range of students including one to one support and workshops.

About you

You will have gained experience from working with printmaking machinery and will have worked extensively across intaglio processes, including photo etching and photopolymer.  Some experience in lithography and relief printing is desirable. The successful applicant will work alongside technicians and academics within the college to ensure students are trained in the safe, innovative and professional use of the College’s technical resources.

Above all we are looking for a motivated, creative individual who can add to a growing and increasingly important team at the college. We would expect high levels of technical competence and a dedication to personal development.
