Building on the existing alliance between Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges, a new Strategy for 2017 – 2022 has been developed: Creating New Histories. As a result, the academic leadership across the three Colleges will be refocused into disciplines under academic subject groups (Art, Design, and Performance Arts). Leaders of these discipline areas will work closely with the newly-configured post of Dean of Academic Development and Student Communities, who will promote interdisciplinary, cross-college strategies to enhance the student learning experience by embedding collaborative activity, and a greater degree of live projects and external engagement, in the curriculum across all three Colleges.
University of the Arts London (UAL) is a world leader in arts and design education. With over 19,000 students across our six distinct colleges, we are the world’s largest specialist University for the study of arts, design, fashion, communication and performance. We are widely recognised for the strength of our industry engagement and were ranked among the top UK research universities in REF 2014, with 83% of our research graded as world-leading or internationally excellent. UAL embraces change and we have bold plans for the future, which include the completion of one of the most ambitious programmes of infrastructure investment in the sector, with new campus developments for Camberwell College of Arts, London College of Fashion and London College of Communication, which will enable us to provide world-class facilities for all of our rapidly evolving disciplines.

As a member of the Colleges’ Executive Team, the Dean of Academic Development and Student Communities will be an exceptional strategic leader with a proven track record of co-ordinating interdisciplinary innovations and strategies across curricula to ensure high levels of student engagement. You will be recognised as a leading authority in academic development, with widespread public or professional recognition amongst peers based on demonstrated expertise. A compelling and engaging communicator, you will be a successful motivator with the ability to collaborate in a complex environment to deliver the Colleges’ strategic vision.
