The opportunity

In this teaching role you will be responsible for developing and delivering high quality support that will enable students to become confident, independent learners and to fulfil their academic potential. The main focus will be on supporting students to successfully transition from further to higher education, as well as postgraduate study. This will include working on orientation programmes and providing on course pastoral guidance, working in collaboration with the college Widening Participation outreach team and other colleagues who provide support services to students to undertake effective referrals.

You will be a core member of the Academic Support Team within the college and  collaborate effectively with Programme and Course teams to support student progression and attainment in their studies through the delivery of study support and learning development activities tailored to the needs of students.

You will collect and analyse data for monitoring and reporting purposes on retention and attainment against targets set within the University’s Access agreement and UAL widening participation strategy.

About you

You will have experience of supporting students to fulfill their academic potential within Higher Education and/or Further Education. You will also have a knowledge of inclusive practices which recognise the diversity of the student population at the University. In addition to a teaching qualification and a degree-level education, you will have experience in arts education or in the fashion, media and design industries as a practitioner. Excellent teaching and communication skills are essential, along with an enthusiastic and supportive approach that will inspire students to succeed to the best of their abilities in both group and one-to-one settings.
