The opportunity

We are looking for an individual who will bring experience in teaching with a particular focus on undergraduate delivery. With knowledge and experience relating to photojournalism and/or documentary photography theory you will be responsible for year leadership, teaching, assessment, unit management and curriculum development. You will provide pastoral and academic support to our diverse student community along with monitoring their progress and attendance and maintaining appropriate records. In this role you’ll contribute ongoing scholarship and work collaboratively with the course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions. Your contributions will extend the level of subject expertise and critical understanding and keep the curriculum at the forefront of creative and professional practice.

Requirements of the role:

  • Responsibility for a year group of undergraduate students
  • Pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulate thought and practice
  • Expand the capacity of the course to meet our need to explore current and emerging issues
  • Consider and promote equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and assessment
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and be a student-centred educator with the ability to provide constructive and critical support.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Higher degree or equivalent professional experience in related fields.
  • PhD or Higher level research degree (Desirable)
  • Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) (Desirable)
  • Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Desirable)
