The opportunity

You will join our established team of academics and visiting industry practitioners teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Communications and Media programme, with a specific focus on Public Relations. As lecturer you will participate in the delivery of innovative teaching to enhance the student experience in terms of student engagement and attainment. You will manage and coordinate relevant units, undertake assessment and student pastoral support, and contribute to curriculum design and quality management. You will report to the Course Leader and Programme Director and will contribute to the development of Public Relations as a discipline through scholarly activity, research and/or knowledge exchange. You will be aware of current areas of research and development in Public Relations and related media communications disciplines and will contribute to the wider scholarly community of the Media School. 

About you

You will be experienced in teaching in an HE environment and have a proven track record of delivering a high quality student experience. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of current issues and directions in Public Relations and Marketing Communications with a specialism that might include digital content strategy, campaign strategy and planning, promotion and public discourse, media communication theory as it relates to Public Relations, and/or research methodologies in strategic communication and reputation management. You will be committed to delivering a contemporary education that integrates theory and practice and which promotes diversity and inclusivity. You will have experience of providing academic and pastoral support to students, of monitoring student progress and maintaining appropriate records, and of undertaking assessment and unit management. You will have a strong commitment to the advancement of your field through scholarly activity, research and/or knowledge exchange. You will hold or be willing to study for a relevant teaching qualification leading to HEA Fellowship. You will have strong interpersonal skills that enable you to work as part of a team, to communicate with employers and other external stakeholders, and to build networks in furtherance of the aims of the Media School.
