The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Performance team. With Performance and digital technology constantly evolving at a rapid speed, we work at the cutting edge of new thinking and developments to prepare our students for successful careers in the creative industries of the future. The Performance technical resource provides multimedia performance and technical theatre support to a students from a range of subject areas that can include, Performance Design, Performance Screen, Animation, Graphic and Communication Design, Fashion, Fine Art, Spatial Practices, external events and visiting companies.

You will create and deliver workshops and provide technical support for sound and camera related subjects. You will play an integral part of the technical team, contributing your experience in digital camera work, lighting, grip, sound, and the latest emerging and digital technologies. Your role will encompass professional applied experience in post-production, video projection and multimedia performance arts. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops.

Your role will encompass communicating with stakeholders, acting as a lead point of contact for technical support, and ensuring access to up-to-date and accurate information for students, academics, fellow technicians and other university staff.

About you

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable, dynamic, self-motivated person. Ideally a creative individual with a passion for sound, cinematography, video technologies and multimedia performance, who will relish the challenge of supporting a diverse range of talented and renowned academics.

We need someone who is a good communicator, able to explain complex information clearly, and who is enthusiastic about imparting knowledge to students, and meeting the evolving challenge of multimedia content production in both screen and live performance context.

You will have an excellent knowledge of techniques used for video and sound production for filmmaking and performance making practices, including software and hardware operations, microphone techniques, audio & video editing and post-production. You will be proficient in the relevant Adobe software (Premiere/AfterEffects/Audition), Logic Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, or equivalents.
